5 Eco-Conscious Fashion Brands I Love To Wear

26th December 2021

Being someone who talks about the link between sustainability and fashion quite a lot (or all the time!) I often feel guilt about showing my audience some pieces I’m looking at because I try to practice what I preach, but in the spirit of total transparency, there are times when I do want to shop and do shop! My audience means a lot to me and often ask for tips on getting into sustainability, or what brands are *really* sustainable, (I will go into what makes a sustainable fashion brand another time) I want to use my blog as a space to share brands I love and have shopped – or will shop when I really need to!

If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know how much I fangirl over KITRI. This brand isn’t necessarily a sustainable brand in terms of materials used, but they do utilise a made to order model which IMO is fantastic as it means if you purchase anything from them, it means you really want to buy it, which must be the case considering they sell out entire collections in a matter of hours.

Lily & Lionel

Where do I begin when it comes to praising the team at Lily & Lionel?! Their collections are short runs with limited designs and since their launch in 2008 they have made designs that transcend the usual trend led styles. They create pieces that should be treasured. They work with smaller, family run factories and they utilise materials that reduce negative environmental and social impacts such as Lyocell, Linen and Organic Lotus Satin.

People Tree

People Tree have been doing sustainable fashion for a damn long time! Established in 1991, their core mission has stayed the same over the past three decades. Every product is made to the highest ethical and environmental standards from start to finish. Contemporary, versatile designs and playful, exclusive prints inspired by the V&A archives create stylish, innovative and affordable fashion while respecting people and the planet.

Monika the Label is a really cool brand that bridges a style somewhere between California and East London. Rather than being a “sustainable” brand they are all about slow fashion. They create killer collections you can wear season after season and for years to come, using environmentally friendly fabrics, UK factories and low-carbon footprints.

Fanfare Label

Fanfare is an incredible circular fashion brand meaning they utilise what is already available and create new designs! Their mission is to tackle fashion’s waste crisis. Offering a simple solution to fashions complex problems. Businesses have built supply chains to drive financial profits at the expense of people and the environment. Fanfare are challenging the status quo by leading the upcycling movement, transforming vintage pieces to unique contemporary designs, combining elements of vintage & surplus clothing by giving existing materials a new life through various textile techniques.
